Doctor Who: Season 6 Episode 1-AKA Spoilers!

First off, you just read the word spoilers in Rivers voice didnt you? Thats ok, when i wrote it out, it was her voice that was in my head.

So I just watched the season premiere of Doctor Who Yesterday.
 The Impossible Astronaut.

AMAZING. You have done it again Moffat. All i could think about at work today was the mind fuck that you played on me.
The Doctor dies, but hes still alive.
Amy is sick but River shows the same symptoms.
Rory might be dead...AGAIN!
And the silence? Scary!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.

So here is my theory on what is going on in the first episode and how I have fooled myself into behaving rationally until i find out what happens on Saturday.

SO in the first 10 minutes we see the Doctor die. I however believe that this is not when the doctor will die. here is why.
River tells us herself that every time she and the Doctor meet, her past is the doctors future.
So first off, When River first meets the Doctor, The Doctor would be at his oldest. So if at the beginning of the Impossible Astronaut, The doctor says hes 1103 years old. I would assume River would know the rough age of the Doctor when she first meets him, which means two things.
The Doctor Just met River. River knows this and what she does after he dies is what has to be done
OR
River realized that the Doctor hasnt met her yet and what she does after he dies is to help change the outcome but she cant tell Rory and Amy because of Spoilers.
She knows everything.

Next- When the Doctor (David then Matt) First meet River, i believe she mentions that they looked younger than what she was use to. or they were an earlier regeneration. Which gives to the possibility that River sees another regeneration from the Doctor, making The Doctors' (Matt) death in episode 1 highly unlikely, which again leaves me thinking that River knows more than shes letting on.

Also when they are in the Diner, They are synchronizing their journals. If the Doctor had come to the point in his time stream that at 1103yrs, he had first encountered River (on rivers point of view) wouldnt he have done everything with River? there for not needing to synchronize the journal having experienced everything he will?
BOOM! TAKE THAT STEVEN!
awe, dont look so sad. Im just an American Nutcase. Im sure you have some sort of plot twist that will rival anything i can dream up. You're Steven Moffat.

What do you guys think? any other kind of theories?

Part 2: Book Review- Twilight Series/Stephenie Meyer

Part 2 of this book review will talk about Twilight only because it has Vampires in it.
Book 1: Twilight
I will admit, I actually enjoyed this book. The author had a clear voice and direction for the characters. It was something different from a typical vampire story where it could be told to kids and not scar them for life. It is also a good sign of a well developed story when you could go through and take out any reference of Vampires and the story will stand up as being interesting.
Over all this was the best written book of the series hands down.
Book2: New Moon
Overall this is where i find fault with the series. the authors voice changed. there are good parts but it almost feels like to much teenage angst. This book doesnt push the story forward, which if its a series, thats what a new book should do, right?
This book could be skipped if you were in a rush to read through this series.
Book 3: Eclipse
This was the second best book of the series. The voice of the author matured and the story actually moved forward into where it needed to go to grow. If you were to read only two books from the series then i would say read book 1 then book 3 and you would have a complete story.
Finally book 4: Breaking Dawn
Kill it! Kill it!
Has to be one of the worst books written. It feels rushed, it feels like a second thought. I really believe that the twilight series was suppose to be a trilogy but the success of it all make her want to pop out another book. The Story doesnt make any sense, and really this is where i was turned off from Stephenie Meyer as an author.

Dont believe me? I tried reading her other book
I kid you not, i read maybe 7 pages and i just couldnt take it any more. And you know what? Im still able to live my life.

So what have we learned?
1. Not All the Twilight books are bad.
2. Stephenie Meyer lost her way as an author
3. That there is a reason i didnt mention the movies (movie post maybe?)

Part 1: Book Review: Nocturne

I just read a novel by Syrie James entitled Nocturne
And not to give everything away, its a vampire love story. Now hold on, keep reading.
This is nothing like some other Vampire love story that you might know of...*coughtwilightcough* (which i will review in my part 2 of the book review)

Now this is Syrie's first venture into modern Vampire tales. She is mostly known for her period fictions with already developed characters, like Dracula, Charlotte Bornte, and Jane Austen (not a character but still period.) Now i cant speak for her other books, i havent read them. But i did read Nocturne.

on a scale of 0-10 this book for me is a 5. Here is why.

The premise of a Vampire story where the Vampire actually wants to (and sometimes does) bite the human makes it better than some books out there. However since it is this author's first venture into a modern time with original characters, I find the execution of the story falling short.

When i think of a fantasy story about vampires, i expect there to be unbelievable aspects. There should be other creatures, there should be a big crisis. This book fails to bring fantasy to the story. This book could be written without the vampire and it would still makes sense, which to me makes a boring book. i want to be entertained.

I will be the first to admit, im not the final authority for books, but i know what i like. The Characters themselves are underdeveloped, which makes me think that this book was rushed into production to capitalize on the Vampire craze.

The Love story is again underdeveloped, and Spoiler- doesnt end well.

I think that was the part that i didnt like the most but was refreshed. It didnt end like other books with a happy ending, which i wanted.

So would i recommend this book? No.
But should you read it? You can survive if you dont read it.

Stay tuned for Part 2.

Happy Animal free Anniversary!

Today marks my one year anniversary. A year ago today i made the decision to become a Vegetarian.
My reasons for becoming a Vegetarian are short and simple:
1. Its not about the animal for me, just being more healthy with my eating habits.
2. At this point i was already technicly a vegetarian since it had been weeks since i had eaten meat.
3. During the past spring break in Ireland, i gorged myself on Burger King fast food. and when i left i was disgusted with myself and what i put into my body.

So i changed, now im not a strict vegetarian, i love me my eggs and cheese and occasional fish/shelfish.
nothing truer has been said

Now settle down, i know im not a real vegetarian. at most im a pescetarian and at the very least im a sympathetic vegetarian. But i think of myself as a vegetarian and well, ive last a year so thats something right?

So do i do if for the animals?
no. Like i said earlier, its more for health reasons.

So what i take away from this is not only the knowledge that i can commit to something like this for as long as a year, but also i just feel better about myself.

And i wont stop with just a year, i want to make the 5 year mark.

So what have you done lately?

Doctor Who Birthday cake

and boy did i have a good time! I decided to make my birthday cake this year. But not just any birthday cake.

no sir, this cake represented not only my birthday but also the season premiere of one of my favorite shows -
DOCTOR WHO!
Oh Man OHMANOHMAN

So anyways, I spent the day making what i appreciate but probably deserves to be put on the Cakewrecks blog.

so here it is:

I know, the Tardis is pretty janky, (im really not very well versed in fondant) but the Daleks are adorable!
And as a proud accomplishment to myself, i made the fondant from scratch! BAM!
Who wouldnt love something like this?
Well other than the fact it wants to destroy humanity, but thats a minor detail.
I love how this shot came out.

The Tardis itself was made from two 8in square cakes cut in fourths and stacked to get the right height (about four high) and then an additional fourth of cake was used to make the top part of the tardis.

I am pretty proud of how i created the Daleks. Each Dalek is made up of one Large Muffin cupcake and a mini cupcake. Then they were carved to shape!

So, what will your Birthday Cake look like?
